How can we help you?
Nokara Consulting is a pro bono research advisory practice. We donate specialist research and insight expertise to organisations that work for the public good. Our role is to help you make better decisions, tell stronger impact stories, and use data with confidence – even if you don’t have a research team or a big budget.
We focus on practical, right-sized support: clarifying your questions, shaping robust but realistic research designs, and helping you get more value from the data you already have.
Service areas
-
Research Clinics
Short, focused sessions to clarify what you need to know, sense-check your ideas, and give you concrete next steps.
-
Research Design & Frameworks
Designing surveys, interview guides, evaluation frameworks and simple measurement plans you can actually deliver.
-
Data Interpretation & Storytelling
Helping you make sense of existing data, draw out key insights, and turn them into compelling narratives for funders, boards and stakeholders.
-
Impact & Evaluation Support
Building light-touch impact frameworks and learning loops so you can track what’s working – and improve over time.
All of this is provided pro bono: Nokara donates time and expertise. Any direct delivery costs (e.g. sample, incentives, software) remain the responsibility of your organisation or funders.
Who do we work with?
We work primarily with organisations in the not-for-profit and social impact sectors – especially those who need research support but don’t have in-house expertise or the budget for full-service consultancy.
Example organisation profiles:
Charities and NGOs designing or evaluating programmes
Foundations and funders seeking clearer evidence of impact
Social enterprises and community interest companies refining their services or narratives
Networks, coalitions and campaigns needing robust data to influence policy or practice
We prioritise organisations whose work improves access, inclusion or opportunity for under-served communities – in areas such as health and wellbeing, education, social mobility, digital inclusion, climate and community resilience.
How does this all work?
Our process is simple and collaborative. We recognise that time, capacity and funding can be tight – so we focus on support that is feasible, targeted and genuinely useful.
Suggested process:
Tell us about your challenge
You complete a short form outlining your organisation, what you’re trying to understand, and why it matters.Scoping conversation
We have a 45–60 minute call to explore your context, refine the question, and agree what kind of pro bono support makes sense – from a one-off clinic to a more structured design project.Pro bono support
Depending on your needs, this might include:A research clinic session with follow-up notes
A full survey or interview guide design
An evaluation or impact framework
Help interpreting existing data and shaping a clear story
Practical outputs
You receive clear, usable outputs (e.g. an annotated questionnaire, a simple framework, a short insight summary) tailored to your capacity and next steps.Follow-up and learning
Where helpful, we offer a short follow-up to see how the work has been used and what you’ve learned. This helps us improve our pro bono offer and, with your permission, develop anonymised case examples.
To keep this sustainable, Nokara takes on a limited number of pro bono projects at any one time. When capacity is full, we’ll let you know and, where possible, signpost you to useful resources or alternative routes.
Is this what you need?
Nokara’s pro bono support might be right for you if:
You have important questions, but struggle to turn them into structured research.
You want to understand your impact better, but don’t know where to start.
You have some data already, but need help making sense of it and telling the story.
You need evidence to support funding applications, strategic decisions or advocacy.
You value a collaborative, honest partner who will keep things proportionate and realistic.
You genuinely lack the budget to commission traditional, full-fee research consultancy.
You may not be a good fit right now if:
You are looking for a long-term, embedded research team, or
You have a substantial budget already allocated for commercial consultancy but are primarily seeking cost savings.
Why Nokara?
Nokara Consulting was founded on a simple belief: good decisions and strong impact stories shouldn’t only belong to organisations with big budgets.
Drawing on years of experience in designing and delivering research for global businesses and institutions, Nokara brings the same level of rigour and clarity to the not-for-profit world – as a pro bono contribution to the public good.
The name Nokara was chosen for its modern, distinctive sound – a reflection of our approach: thoughtful, original and designed for clarity. We aim to remove jargon, demystify research, and leave you with tools and insights you can continue to use long after the project has finished.
You can expect:
Clear, honest guidance – including when not to do research
Research designs that fit your reality, not an ideal textbook
A focus on impact, learning and real-world decisions
Pro bono support delivered with the same care as paid work
